How to make money from 52,000 weight?

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by jeremymgp, Mar 11, 2006.

    Hi folks,

I've got a site with 52,000 weight and don't know the best way to make money from it. What can I do? Should I point all the weight at one site and aim for a competitive term? Or split it up into say 5 ads pointed at different sites?

I was thinking if I pointed it at some affiliate pages I could use it to boost sales, is this a good idea? And how long should I wait before results come?

Thanks for your help, I've had weight for years and never really used it much, so I'd like to see what it's capable of.

    Best,
    Jeremy

If picked correctly- I think you could make anywhere from 3-6k a month off MSN and Yahoo! alone in affiliate programs with that kind of weight. (google perhaps not if your site isn't already receiving decent rankings)

hahaha, who said I don't share secrets.

I'm not a consultant in these things... but can give a few brief comments, if that helps.

If you want long lasting rankings with the co-op, the most important thing IMO is for the site/page to be very genuine and legit, and providing enough unique content to justify the ranking which will result. If you're able to prop up an affiliate page on some old domain and point 50k co-op to it, it's possible to rank really high for a heavily searched term with thousands of searches a day.... but holding that position is a whole different story. This can only be done, if the page is actually worthy of the ranking.. i.e. provides more benefit for an end user than the rest of the listings on the first page in the serps. A thin affiliate page with nothing but copied pormotional blurp and affiliate links will never last more than 2 weeks....

So.. if you have the right niche, and an established "related" domain than IMO it would be best to think hard and write up a page or a few pages which look awesome and legit design-wise and has some added benefit to the user other than merely being a doorway to the mercient... then go ahead and point all 52k to one keyword phrase.. and the weight should help you rank. Normally results show up in two caches.. if you're not appearing in the top twenty in 1-2 weeks.. then it probably wont rank for whatever reason.

That's the most I can say at this point. Hope it was helpful.

so what happens if you switch the thin affiliate ad every 2 weeks? hmm might be easier to write one page of real content and let it go. :)

Takes about two weeks for the weight to kick in.. so you'd be having these big gaps between ur weeks when u generate any revenue.. also sooner or later the domain will be screwed and it will loose it's ranking power.

that's true, but i guess you could change the anchor link and try to rank for another term?

By screwed I mean.. a penalty. With it, the domain would be either banned (delisted completely), or sandboxed similar to how new domains are.

    Hi..

Would the domain still be penalized if say you were pointing a lot less weight to it, and it was an ecommerce site? Or would you say to stay away from pointing it to any "main" site you would have? I don't want my sites to be penalized or delisted. I am pointing about 2200 weight to one site, don't want to over do it.

2200 weight will not overdo it.
however, it's different story with much larger weight ie 60k weight.

Yes... amounts in the high xx,xxx or over 100 or 200k weight becomes risky.

As I mentioned before, it's more the nature of the page which should be well thought out. If the page actually deserves to rank that high then you shouldn't be too concerned about hitting a penalty.
