    I want to add some thing to that ... Page rank is also very necessary ... You should take measures to improve your site's page rank ... Post your site in blogs ... and importantly it will take time to reach upto the $500 mark .. but you need to be patient ..

    you only need 3 steps

    1. build a website with good niche.
    2. keep it pro.
    3. Arbitrage :D

    it will make more than 500$/month if you can afford some money for step 3 ;)
    and/or...you will lose thousands if you got bad luck.
