1) Write loads of good content targeted to your Niche. The more content pages the better but don't slack on quality. You won't get listed immodestly give it time. 2) Make the best use of Google Webmasters, make an analysis, continuously submit sitemaps of the new content you add. 3) Have a read over here for some extra tips - Increase Website Traffic. 4) Make submissions to directories etc and promote your website on Social Media. 5) Use the Google Keyword tool to find a proper keyword. Maybe you're not using the right ones?
Keyword selection and placement can do some great work. Apart from on-page there lots of work to be done and i am sure you know how to that.
You need to work on both the on-site SEO and off-site SEO for your website. For instance On-site SEO - Keyword and Website Analysis - Website content writing and Analysis - Creation of Robot.txt file - Sitemap Creation & Optimization - Navigation and File Structure - Title & Meta Tags Optimization (Meta Description + H1 Headings) - Back Links Report - Browser Compatibility Checking - Page Size Checking - Website Load Time Checking - Duplicate Content Checking - Broken Link Checking - W3C Report Off-Site SEO - Competitor Analysis - Link Building - Social book marking - Directory Submission - Writing and submission of articles - Writing and submission of Press Release - Forum posting - Comment posting
Yeah, choosing the right keyword is definitely your problem. What are you trying to rank for? You can't just slap up a news site, post articles in all kinds of categories and hope to rank #1 for all terms. Choose like 3-5 keywords you want to target, then work on optimizing your content for these keywords and then get backlinks with relevant anchor text.
Here's the complete recipe for you: * Write a <TITLE></TITLE> tag for each page that accurately describes that page (no more than about 64 characters). * Try to create two new pages every week. If you can't do that, try to do one page each week. At a bare minimum, create a new page each month. * As much as possible, your new pages should be unique, interesting, authoritative, and compelling. If you want to rank well for the phrase electric widgets, then make your site the best resource about electric widgets available. * Make sure all of your pages are accessible through normal <A HREF> links (i.e., don't use JavaScript or Flash links exclusively). * Link to quality relevant sites. After you do so, ask those sites to link to you, but don't make your link to them contingent on whether they link back. * Follow standard website design tips and avoid the problems listed on Problem Websites. Your site should be not only attractive, but super-easy to use, and completely free of annoyances. * Most importantly, purge your mind of trying to think of ways you can "trick" your way to the top of the results. Do NOT think about the specific nuts and bolts of how a search engine will rank your pages. Instead, build good, quality pages for your visitors, and trust that the rankings will follow.
