I heard that you should only post links in signatures if your site is related to the forum's niche. My site has nothing to do with SEO, making money online, or Web development.
As I said, I do submit all my articles to Digg and Reddit but sometimes it seems like it does not make a difference with Google's recrawl rate. In the past, when I submitted my article on Digg, I would see Google cache my blog the next day and see organic traffic coming to it within 24 hours. Now, when I submit my articles to Digg or Reddit, it takes a week or more for Google's crawler to revisit my blog. I think Google changed something in their algorithm regarding sites like Digg.
Do you believe everything you hear or read? So if I go to my survival forum and post a link to your site, your gonna ask me to take it down? I dont think so. You will be glad that someone posted a link to your site. Best - Links from related sites Good - links from good quality sites of any topic Worst - links from spam sites or spam filled directories Best - a brand new car Good - a car that runs well Worst - a car that is broke down Sometimes we take what we can get in life.
I think he is right. Relevancy is where the web is at now and so are the search engines. Can your links still count if they are not on a relevant site? Yes they can, however, I think that the value will be somewhat lower. It's hard to find a forum or blog that is relevant sometime but some good searching will reveal these to you.
some directories like best of the web actually add lots of sites voluntarily. and i am one of the editor of it. although those descriptions are written poorly, i still did it.
Kinda like a used car, its lost a lot of its value, as compared to a brand new car. But sometimes we have to settle for what we can get. We would all love to get links from top ranking sites in our niche. But what happens when your site "is" one of the top ranking sites, then what? Its kinda like taking a trip. Your driving along building links, posting content, the houses are passing by, but then you reach then end of the journey. Your at the top of google and the rest of the search engines for your targeted keywords. Then what? There are no more top ranking sites to build backlinks from in your niche. Your looking around, saying "ok, I have links from that site, that site, and that other site,,, but I'am "supposed" to only build links from high ranking sites in my niche. So what do I do now?" At that point, the logic of "only" having links from top sites in your niche falls apart. The fact is, website owners are going to take any link they can get.
There is really not much you can do except set your crawl rate through webmaster tools. My sites get crawled about once a month. Sometimes once a week depending. You just gotta deal with it. Why doe it matter if your crawled everyday? Especially for a blog?
It is important that a blog be crawled fast when new posts are added. Some blog posts are never more valuable than when they are just written. As time goes by they can become "old news".
That's what I'm thinking too. By the time the crawler comes to my blog, the news could be old or the topics of the articles that I post could have already been copied by other bloggers. Not to mention, I've seen two of my articles taken by other websites that never mention who wrote them.
I would suggest to update Fresh and Unique Content and submitting it on social bookmarking sites(Digg, Stumbleupon.....) would make Google re crawl your blog more frequently
foe fast crawling you must use social bookmarking that will help you and try to post article in 2-3 days that will help you
