How to make Google recrawl my blog faster?

Discussion in 'Google' started by Lotos1, Sep 16, 2009.

I have a blog where I post a new article almost every day. The last time Google crawled my blog was 6 days ago, and I have 5 new articles that I posted that Google never cached. I am not getting any organic traffic from these 5 new articles but I am getting some organic traffic for the older articles. I submit all of the articles to Digg and Reddit and post them on Twitter. What other ways can I use so that Google's crawler visits my blog more often?

Higher PR will result in a faster crawl rate. Develop more backlinks from related/trusted sites.

That takes time. My blog's PR is 1 right now as it is about 8 months old but I do have a lot of unique and quality content. I was thinking that if I can get Google to crawl my blog at a faster rate, I will also be able to get more organic traffic and some of these visitors may even link back to my blog and this will increase my backlinks and PR eventually.

I do not know many other ways of building backlinks besides submitting the blog to blog directories which I have done. Every other way looks way too spammy or is not allowed according to the terms of use of the other websites. Basically, no website wants your links to appear on their pages without their approval first or without you paying for the links to show up. The only way to quickly build backlinks is to spam but I am sick and tired of people saying that you're spamming even when you're providing useful information, as well as, including your link. Just because I include my link with other helpful information is spamming?

You need to update regularly, google does take notice of how aften your site is updated.
Also add more incoming links, this has a massive effect on how quickly new pages are indexed. You need to try and get incoming links to the individual pages.

Get the backlinks from where if people do not naturally link to the articles? Spam forums and other people's blogs? Not interested in that.

I've used articles as another form of one way back links. The traffic has been awesome too.

Of course then, I am having to use good content on the article instead of the site or blog, but it does seem to help by using articles (it is time conumsing though).

Backlinks are your roots on the web so the more roots the more accessibility the crawler has to you.

Well said. The problem is how can I build these roots if someone doesn't voluntarily add your link to their website? Everyone says build backlinks, but I think that is the hardest part of promoting a website. You can create a great looking site, have great content, but when it comes to building backlinks quickly, that's where it gets hard.

The only way to build quickly backlinks is to post your link in related forums, blogs, social networking sites, etc. More and more forums do not allow links in signatures and blogs have nofollow tags and some even block comments altogether. We have less and less ways to build backlinks now. The only way to drive some nice traffic seems using PPC, and I'm sure Google loves that! :D

My blog is not even a PR1, but when I post, googlebot is there in 5 mins.

    Are you using wordpress?

You should make sure that it's sending the Update Notification Ping.
Check that in your Admin Settings.

Also, I always tell my members to go to pingomatic.com and submit a
    ping there when in doubt.

Include a link in your signature?

    Comment on other dofollow blogs?

Write a few articles and post them on article sites and include a link?

These are all options and there are many other ways to increase backlinks. This is an indirect method to increase your crawl rate.

Create a webmaster tools account in google. After you create your google webmaster tools account you will be able to submit a sitemap.

I am going to guess this is a new site? Google is not going to crawl new sites all the time - that comes with age. The older your site is, and the more backlinks your site has, the more often google crawls your site.

The age factor will improve with the passage of time.

Start working on building backlinks from high page rank sites, such as having a link to your site in your signature here on digital point.

Here is solution for you which will work.

Google visits DIGG every second. So, whenever you publish one article submit it to DIGG and if its nice article people will DIGG and it can be popular also. If not then also no worry because within a while google crawl will visit your site and it will be indexed.

If your article was popular then you will get high PR backlink also. There are other social bookmarking sites and you can submit the article to those also.

    Regards
    Krishna
