You shouldn't even give Google a second thought, period. If you want consistent traffic, you have to advertise in spots, both off and online, that its visitors may click on. Get a line of them going, and let it run on auto pilot. In a nutshell, that's it.

The main point is to always try to get your site visitors on your email list. Than they'll come more often, without PPC, SEO etc. to your site buy offering them something useful. Be sure you don't bother or spam them. Only give away useful, entertaining or educational information away. I don't ask my prospect to buy, I only show them how they can solve their problems. I over deliver them with good free information to build trust. When you've built a trustworthy relationship with your prospects and they're ready to buy they'll click on a link in the email to buy.
There is only one way to build a consistent business, whether it be online or off! You need to take consistent action every single day! Make sure you spend time doing something to build your business everyday. You see too many people, believe that with an online venture, that there is a secret formula that if you do once, you will get results! Not true! Unless you get to the number spot in all search engines for keywords that receive millions of searches a month...And even then if you sit back and do nothing, you may eventually slip down the rankings. It's all about quality and being perceived as an authority. So in lamen's terms, add lots of useful information everyday, whether it be articles, blogs, site content and do something to build backlinks everyday. Whether that be blog commenting, forum participation, commenting in relevant news stories at .edu and .gov sites. Writing more articles, JV's with people in your niche.
