How to make a wordpress blog so that no one can see other than you ?

Ok, I want to keep my wordpress blog to only myself How can I do this ? since WP automatically pings so I can expect technocrati and others to know about my blog which I don't want. I tried to make post "private" but it seems it doesn't help. Any suggestions ?

PS - No, I am not involved in any kind of conspiracy against governemnt just want to use it as a journal.

1. Try password protecting the folder containing the blog

2. Remove the automatic pinging feature from your Wordpress Admin CP: Go to Options | Writing and scroll down until you see this:

Delete the "http://rpc.pingomatic.com/" part.

You can use notepad and apply the .LOG feature. That way you will have a journal all to yourself.

I think the best way to do this to password protect your whole directory... if your host provides cpanel, there should be one icon just to do that. Yeah, and remember to remove the pingomatic stuff.

Another way is to make your posts private when you publish. This way, you can combine both publicly viewable stuff and stuff only you will be able see (when you are logged in)

Or just create a gmail account and email your journal to yourself! ;P
