It depends on the theme you are using, if you have a default theme, Twenty Ten, then it would be the most easiest, and you can google tons of tutorials either in youtube or Google.

There are lots of free sites online that offer wordpress themes. Most of them are good to be modified, just find the one that suits your site best. If you're not sure, then maybe hiring a specialist in this sphere would help. He'd change your wp theme structure the way you want, and it would look like a normal website.

How hard is it to google that? Well a simple technique which can make your WordPress look like a site and not a blog is to change the Home Page. By default home page lists blog articles. You can change it to a static page and design that page according to your needs.

Try Thesis 1.8. It can get rid of sidebars and completely customize the theme. Make your site look like anything you want. Skins, too. $79. Good luck.
