i think you need some kind of database of all the pages with select keywords and a search page that will search that database for such and such...

Why not just use Google site search?

For My last site i did i used this :

    http://www.tipue.com/

The tool is fairly unknown but its is easy to use (as you know the basics), attractive in design, and FREE, but its dependant on the amount products your looking to list???

Reply back and i will tell you how this compares to my experiences.

il check it out but i got alot of products so hopfully i dont have any problems. I also notice how some sites have good search and some sites search sucks. Some sites alow you to search buy product number(which is how i work my affiliate market) and some if you put a product number it brings up like 4 products.

for sure, google search is the easiest search mechanism to implement in a site, given that you have an adsense account
plus you can make a little $ off it

    Hi!

As suggested previously, if your site lists any sort of "products" then you really should use a database to store all content. Searching is then a matter of a simple SQL query.

Having a database as your base content platform also aids you enormously in maintenance.

    Regards

Well, beside the Google's AdSense search that I use on one of my websites, I use a free Freefind search service; see for instance my "tayiper" site-variants intro.html page, while the search box is below under the left navigation. And yeah, so far I am very content with it, i.e. it works flawlessly.

Yep, either use AdSense for Search or if you need much more control of the output I recommend using the phpDig search script.

Well, I am not sure if this is still relevant or not (I "re-discovered" this thread through StatCounter's "Recent Came From" list), but I think that in the mean time Google has put out the so-called Google Custom Search, i.e. IIRC that means that you don't need an AdSense account to use Google's search box on you website.

For an example of such search box see the slovenian version (click on the first or left-most button/icon in the row to see search-page) of my main personal website (on this one, i.e. on the english version/variant I use AdSense's search, of course)

Hope this helps, maybe someone else might make a good use of this reply, tayiper
