Yeah, I think we're both correct - smart work does pay off.

and I'll admit this - owning your own product is better than promoting someone else's; that's pretty much undeniable.

Right now, I'm an affiliate with a leader mentality.

    - I basically don't plan on promoting other people's products for the rest of my life; but I do it so I can have some income to start outsourcing and creating products.

To be able to lead - you have to first follow; that's how I approach my affiliate marketing thingy. When I cash in the way I predict - i'll probably start producing mass products.

I think affiliates in it for the quick buck are followers; but affiliates doing it to earn some revenue and move on to bigger; better things [putting themselves in leader positions] are actually in fact Leaders.

    Whatever the case.
This is an excellent post that tells people that may inspire some future product creations :D

    Thanks guys, great write-up!

    I guess I am a "leader-affiliate" :)

I never trust the merchant's sales page - especially when PPC is involved so I always use my own landing pages!

I am building my list as well :) Actually my lists!

... and creating my own CB product - something Original :)

There is nothing wrong with being an affiliate. After all you have to start somewhere but like with every business model, you have to plan for expansion to achieve greater success than the average affiliate and be a leader in your field (if an affiliate is what you want to be):

A common mistake that people usually do is to buy a product targetted domain name that can be used for one product and one product only, for example:

run-your-car-on-water.com (don't know if it exist, it is just an example)

They put all their efforts promoting and creating backlinks to the website but what happens if the product stops selling? What happens to all the backlinks created? The hundreds of articles written? And the SE ranking? What do you do with a specialised domain name like that? Two things:

You either find the same product
    or
your domain is now useless and all hard work is lost!!

Easy-car-modifications.com would have been much better because it is re-usable and you can develop a domain like that to make it a car marketplace and put ebay, amazon and other affiliates ads related to cars on it. Different revenue streams are always better! You can also bring customers using PPC cheap keywords like carpet for cars and upsell them other expensive car products.

    Think big.

This is a terrific thread for several reasons.

First of all, medaa recognizes that there is nothing new under the sun! You people would be suprised how many big names hand their ghostwriter's other people products and say "Help me make this idea my own" or "Add this new twist to this concept."

It happens a lot and for a very good reason....why reinvent the wheel? I'm not talking about directly ripping someone off...but trying to sell to people who are already buying is smarter than trying to convince people who don't want to buy to purchase from you.

Secondly, as a product creator you'll have other people committed to affiliate marketing working for you to sell your product. Once you do a good job of setting up your sales page and affiliate package...you let them do the work for you! Work smarter...no harder!

Also, CutePDF does work for PDFs...but it doesn't keep your links active. A better solution is to get a free copy of OpenOffice and use the Writer program to "export to pdf."

Yeah... I heard about a guy who started promoting CB products. But when he finds a top earning campaign, he turns around and create similar product and quadraple his income. He already has great Adwords campaign, he knows the product sells... and if his new product is not doing well, he knows it's because of his offer or copy.

It is all about Marketing . Business is business.

Microsoft also "modified" the concept of Desktop from Apple but they do better than Apple.

"Simply buy ebooks of products you think you can safely and accurately update, re-write, rebrand and repackage! You can even ask for the ebook you bought to be refunded once you're done with it."

You know this is what gets me going. People that buy the products then ask for a refund when they know damn well they can keep the ebook...
