even after you get your site to rank high, in a competitive niche you will have to continue putting work in to keep it ranking high. I have a few websites that used to be at number 1 for their keywords that are now either at the bottom of the first page or on the second because I stopped paying attention to them. Our ranking has recently taken a massive slip for 'Digital Marketing Communication Management' http://silandteeg1.wordpress.com/ our content is there, is there only backlinks that can help us now? QS!! Value Added, real stuff that is worth users going to, content is king, that is all I can say, if you build something of real value it will grow itself. Sometimes you need a lot more than just you alone to do this. I had to buckle down and get some serious VS in the 8 figures to really get our operation of the ground and give up some % of my company, not easy but worthwhile. So if you are just pushing around offers and third party stuff, not going to work long run, not a sustainable biz model over all.
