Depends on what you consider good? And what your goals are for the purchase. I would say think about what you are trying to achieve with your investments and it will become clear what directories are right for you. ie) are you looking for exposure? are you looking for pr? are you looking for traffic?

I think you should skip it. There's no "easy money" left in the directory game.

You need to do a lot fo research. People do not care about buyting links and PR.

Make your site for users, add quality content, then charge a review fee for submissions.

I can't stress enough... Have a business plan prior to starting a directory.
This is a business and hard work. Not "easy money" as someone put it.

Your business plan will help you identify what is a "strong directory" for you.

Agree, you also need a good budget and need to know what are the best ways to get repeat customers and buzz going.

A lot of good suggestions and comments, I have several new dir's and been building several, I would personally read, read, and research, take a look at the successful ones, and look why they are successful and then plan to make sure you are on the right track.
Dont just go buying links up all over the place, Save the money and learn some before spending it.
