they accept the sites with unique content, no matter new or old the site is, so the best you can do is to persuade them that your site offers useful information. Design and traffic are not so important.

The rules similar to register new Adsense account. And you don't need to have all unique content, but the copied content must have source links.

if you do not know the editor, you have almost NO CHANCE to get your site listed. This is tested!

I think you still can be listed here without personal relationship with editor, just take few months to years of waiting. And too many case tell me that you can not listed in some niche (which the editor of your language have site in this niche)

As has beеn sаіd а few times in this forum, the simplest/best policy іs tо suggest thе site onсe in thе category whісh the content best matches, then forget аbоut it.
Sooner оr lаtеr an editor wіll review thе suggestion.

Yes, sometimes it does take an eternity to get a website listed in DMOZ. The key reason behind such a delay is the sluggish attitude of the respective category’s editors. Kindly go through the directory’s guidelines to ensure that your submission is compliant with DMOZ policies.

    Tips for quick approval:
    - Submit your site to the most specific category once and only once
    - Submit if and only if your website has original, legal and high-quality content
    - Check out for any broken/ dangling links
    - Create a perfect site suggestion (short URLs, official name as the title, well-written description)
    - Include complete contact information
    - Do not inquire into the status of your suggestion time and again

Set it and forget it. The moderators are very hit and miss and will basically throw your site to the reject list at the drop of a hat.

Dmoz always takes time due to high volume of submission. If your website has good content and you have provided all info right in dmoz then certainly your website will make a place in world's biggest and most reputated directory.

    You submit, you wait.

For some reason one of my sites has 5 or 6 DMOZ entries for different pages and I only added one, so some other people have clearly added my site.

They were really very strict on quality, that's why it's very hard to be listed on dmoz, not really hard but very long time of waiting.
