Hello :) I'm thinking of purchasing 2 domain names for a website i'm creating soon. One with dashes and one without. Because won't the one with dashes show up better in search engines? So how do I link the second domain name to the site that i make with the other domain name? And which domain name should i use as the primary or does it matter? Can both domain names show up on google for the same site? Or could I link the second domain to a different page than the homepage on my site? Thanks guys :)

i'd prefer the domain without dashes. beware of redirecting, BigG (and other search engines, too) may record it as a duplicate content. i would take only one, and use the saved money for another name :)

the one without dashes is easier to remember but.. search engines aren't able to separate more than 2 words right? so it'd be like howtofish would be read as how tofish or howto fish it would read them as one word and be harder to be found on search engines right?

Well hm.. how bout being able to link the second domain to a certain web page? Would that be helpful for being found on google? Like Howtofish.com would go to the homepage and how-to-fish.com would go to howtofish.com/blog ? cuz then the blog would count for unique content being added to howtofish.com right? sigh.. or maybe you're right about the duplicate content. :(

The dashes dont really matter. All that matters is how people will remember your site easily.

To answer your question you can use redirect in your hosting control panel. In Domains table, there are buttons to add Subdomains,Addon Domains,Parked Domains and Redirects button. Use the Redirects button to link between two domains. I hope this might help you :)

Hide one domain from indexing on search engines using robots.txt, otherwise search engines considered your website contains duplicated content
