How to link directly to the payment page from my landing page

    Hello everyone,

I am creating my first landing page using the fatloss4idiots offer.

My question is how do I jump directly from my landing page to the very last page (payment) of the fatloss4idiots site making sure I keep my commission/clickbank ID in tact.

When I go to the payment page myself I do not see my clickbank ID anywhere so I am unclear on how it tracks.

Reason I want to do this is because I wish to use my own graphics & layout :)

Any helpful tips/clarification on this process would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

First of all, FL4I deliberately removes the affiliate ID from the URL so that it doesn't scare away the customer, that's not a bad thing at all, and many publisher do it.

In order to check if your affiliate ID is being tracked click the pay button of FL4I, the clickbank pay interface will open asking you to enter the CC details and on the bottom of that page you will see something written like (affiliate:john). If you CB ID is listed there it means they're sucessfully tracking you, so you should see at the bottom of the pay page interface something like (affiliate:Your-CB-ID) Your-CB-ID being the ID of your CB affiliate account.

If you want to send someone to the pay page directly without viewing the FL4I sales page use a link in the following format:

    ProductNumber.youraffiliateid_productname.pay.clickbank.net

    Example

    http://1.johndoe_water4gas.pay.clickbank.net

The problem with this method is that you don't set an cookie in the browser of the viewer. Meaning if he comes back later to purchase you will not get the commission. Also if the user has a pre-existing cookie for the same product from another affiliate, than the other affiliates gets the sale even though you're the one redirecting to the pay page.

The only way to send the user to the pay page so that the user gets your cookie is to stuff a cookie. Cookie stuffing is considered blackhat and it is against Clickbank TOS so I wouldn't advice you to do it.

I think what you should do is convince the user to buy the product on your web page, then let him visit the sales page with your affiliate link, and buy the product that way.

Not sure what's on fl4i, you should ask your publisher.

Ripped, thank you very much for that, extremely informative!

So in the end, the consensus would be to not go directly to the payment page because it would be risky due to losing a possible sale correct?

Has anyone done this method and seen acceptable results?

    Thanks!

If you're an experienced and confident affiliate, who thinks that can do a better job than the publisher selling the product than redirect straight to the pay page.

But since you don't have that much experience, I recommend you to redirect to the sales page for FL4I rather than going directly to the pay link

Sometimes the pay page might ahve a ton of upsells, which seems to be the fad these days and could scare off customers. I don't know if F4L does that, but I've seen it a lot, so keep that in mind too.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I didn't want to create a new one and this one is only few days old ;)

Anyway, I'm trying to see, if I can make the direct link work, but once I get to the payment page, instead of my affiliate ID, at the bottom there is a completely different ID.

Are you sure this method still works?

Yes it works, however, if the customer already has an affiliate cookie from another affiliate, you will not override it,that's why I don't recommend using it. It only works for uncookied customers.

Try it with a product for which you don't have a cookie and you will see it will work.

Maybe you can circumvent the issue by planting a cookie when the user presses the pay button (not when he opens the page, but when he presses the actual pay button), but I think that might be breaking the TOS of CB.

Oh, now I see. I thought it just doesn't set a cookie, but it actually doesn't even override the old one, which is REALLY bad.

Thanks for clearing this out for me.

You can do this very easily, however it is cookie stuffing which could get you banned. I'd recommend not planting a cookie on the user.

Yeah its the same as linking to 1.product.pay.clickbank.net

I dont now why you would even put your affiliate id in the url when it doesnt drop a cookie, or doesnt do anything atall, apart from maybe display a hop.
