I can't tell whether you're just trying to promote your own site without spamming, or if you're really trying to generate conversation

Hey Frank - bite me OK? If you'd take 30 seconds to look at my past threads (since ya don't know me) or maybe 2 minutes to look at what I wrote.... U'd know better than to be an ass. Looking at your past posts I don't see U in these boards much offering SEO advice... if U did more, U may have known that I am a VERY helpfull member.... man, U really should think'research B4 U ask silly questions

    Look at ME!![IMG]

I am on most of the top forums so I don't like to 'cut and paste' posts... I put them on my blog.... Last time I checked most members have a 'latest blog' post thingy... it doesn't support my CMS

ANYWAYS - I wrote the fishing piece because of the nOObs that ask that question over and over.... or should I post it here and create dupe content issues for myself (and likely out rank myself with this thread)?

Next time try doing a little homework before U sound off, OK?

( now we have a conversation huh?)

Sorry bud, but childish rants like that can lead to infractions

A little humility would have permitted you to explain your intentions, as they weren't very clear.

Do you find that you're being perhaps a tad dramatic? Defend your honour? I simply stated that your post is indistinguishable from much of the other spam around here.

To explain: You are pointing to the 'Ultimate Guide to Something' in a discussion forum. You copy/paste in a few paragraphs, and link off to a page containing further info and 'buy this ebook' link. That's more or less cookie-cutter spam.

Now I'm not going to argue with you all day simply because you'd like your thread bumped and re-bumped. I don't need to 'defend my honor' when it comes to giving SEO tips, because I readily admit that I'm in the learning phase with SEO. However, as you're such a fine sleuth with advanced investigative abilities, you'll see that I have offered a great deal of programming and scripting advice in this forum (see them shiny green boxes by my location??)

ha ha ha.. and this coming from a guy signed up for 'PayPer Post' at least I write for integrity.. not because some one pays me to...

    http://boards.payperpost.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=131&sid=1538630a941ed7d57822ec6532f05b41

    Other than that.. what Frank?

Your on Digg, Stubmled Upon, Joomla (good call), MySpace a real SMM butterfly... so U thought U were looking in a mirror and I was gaming the boards???

I can't find much of you on the topic of SEO so what in the hell are you on about? Try reading my stuff man... it may actually help you... doesn't seem to be your forte

So stop playing forum police ok? Try reading the resource and THEN establishing your feelings... that would be the MATURE thing to do

If you had read it.. U'd have known better

If I insinuated U were spamming, how would U react? I dare say close to the same right?

Here's what a member here in the SEO section said about me yesterday

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=250520

I take that respect heavily... I wrote a piece in honor of all the SEO nOObs and posted a link to the entire piece here. As I said, IT WAS WRITTEN specifically for forum folks that ask that same question over and over.... yeeesshh.. yer killin me man

CAN U AT LEAST GO AND READ IT?

First off, I think everyone should just step back. I admit just as a third party, the post itself seemed very promotional in nature and that's without considering anything else. I do believe the responses thus far have been uncalled for. My advice would be to close the thread and move on.

Yeah me too... and in 2 hours when some one asks 'What's the best way to learn SEO' ( I answer them 3-5 times/week) we can have more of the usual 'Search the Boards' answers....

    Great huh?

What a waste of time posting it here for the members... I shall remember to keep qulaity information to myself, and the other boards I frequent..

yeeessh.... dog and pony show folks... Mark my words... in the next 24 hours some one will come along on this board and ask...

Thanks to the intelligent responses... this thread will likley be of no use to anyone.

TRY GOING TO MY SITE - I don't even use AdSense or other Monetization schemes... I KICK SEO ASS....

That's the laugh.. is that REAL information (once again) get's lost among the childish rants and self proclaimed Forum Police...

I have more than 1000 posts on more than a FEW SEO boards... this experience has left me of the mind that it's a waste of time....

thegypsy - that was CLEARLY a very emotional response and it would be responses like those that would yield anyone to ask, why? The original post seemed very promotional, I am sorry you feel that way but it was.
Now, I think you have to ask yourself, if you didn't own the site, would you have a) tried to promote your link here like you did? and b) taken it so personal? The answer is probably no.

Many people here probably run forums themselves and more so, see spam and promotional stuff a lot. I can tell you first hand while I often see spam as a mere annoyance, for forums, it's very serious. While not a moderator, I spend at least an hour a week helping out some mods clean up spam because it's so much on various forums.

Again, call it what you will and I am not saying one thing or another about you personally but it sounded promotional and being that it is your site, it is promotional and that's what people took offense to. You on the other hand rather than just saying sorry and move on, even going so far as to ask the mods here to close this post take a personal stance on the matter which only discredits you in the long run.

My advice, let it go, move on, either here or somewhere else and learn from this experience. Additionally, if your objective is to try and promote yourself as an expert in any one area, don't take this approach, show, provide and delivery quality results and make people fully aware of what you can delivery, not by posting links "hey, check out this really cool site" but rather delivering the actual experience itself to the threads. It will pay off in the long run and make you a much happier person.

Ultimately, no one is here for their health, they are here to earn a few bucks, meet a few people are simply because they just have nothing better to do, so take my advice at the very least from a business standpoint and check the emotional rants at the door.

well, I must agree with what pc_user said. I'm sure gypsy wants to help noobz though. But noobz talk like noobz cuz they don't know what.

The approach, again, I think you should change a little bit. If you remember how Brad Callen did in his treads, you can make your thread alive long and people will appreciate.

I think you need to lower your level for noobz. You see, if I make a thread on how to use H1 tag, they will be happy and appreciate it cuz they are noobz. But knowing SEO so much, that kind of advice is not something you are passionate about any more. I myself don't bother small SEO factors much any more either.

Either you want to target advanced ones or take noobz hands and teach them step by step.

    Thanks Ndyaz

U see folks, the problem is NO ONE SEEMS TO THINK before spouting off. Which is not a sign of nOObs but a sign of immaturity and unprofessionalism...

    1. I am a ranter - read my sig - duh. Obviously most of the posters on the thread are not well travelvelled in SOE or they'd know me already. I posted a link to a Google search that would be very illuminating if anyone HAD READ

    2. I am always emotional when confronted with accusatory tones. Fact of life - get used ot it.

    3. As I said, I am on MANY boards (see #1) and so I post things on my Blog so I don't copy and paste it on the various boards I am on. It is just easier. I have a section for FORUM NEWS that I have links to various SEO posts that are top notch. Many are from DP. SO I ACTIVELY PROMOTE AND BRING TRAFFIC HERE. Do you? I have over 20 posts on DP threads... I think I am a kick ass community member

    4. I see fantasctic TITLEs and SPAM threads far worse than mine EVERY DAY. No one attacks those?

    5. Has anyone gone by my site? See any AdSEnse? Affiliate Programs? DId U go to the post I wrote? If I am spamming what is my end gain exactly? I don't try to monetize the site ON PURPOSE so there is no appearance of anything but being helpful

The guy that started on me.. SELL HIS AVATAR?!? This is a respectable endeavor over me NOT MAKING ANY $$$ here or on my site... is somehow manipulative and spammy? Good luck... He is also on Digg (and a bunch of other SMM sites) so he likely knows about 'TITLEs' - I simply used the same one here as my Digg post.. So what? Follow along and tell me how it's SPAM

OPEN YOUR EYES - U are not the Forum police. Those who felt the need to be accusatory... well, we'll be seing you around..

In the end, thanks... he he... the thread brought in oodles of traffic and MOST of them seem to enjoy the piece and have emailed, PM'd and left comments on the site (and Dugg it too) - pretty good for SPAM I must say... too bad I don't have AdSense on the site huh? damned integrity....

You are not going to tell me HOW I should write my post.... I am 41 and in the game since 1998.. an 'Old Dog' and all.

So in the future, read my posts or don't,,, learn from them or don't. Spending your valuable time telling me what U think about my writing style or abilities... is a doomed venture.

I thank everyone for thier time tho... it's always fun... maybe I will write about it?

I puit a DUMBED down version up http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=253236

Please feel free to LEAVE IT ALONE so people can actually learn something... which they won't of course..since the list iis useless without direction... bwaaa ha ha ha ha....

Is DP going downhill or is it just me? This debacle actually made it more MISINFORMATION ( the new limited post I made) than an actual resource. The original format is far more educational.... fishing wierd bunch .. ha ha h aha...

This is definitely the sign of someone who is new to business online and probably someone much younger to assume that everyone else is wrong but they must be right. In addition, from what I see the only one here being unprofessional is you. Not that it matters much but you also misspelled unprofessional which I imagine it wasn't for a lack of knowing but for the reason that your responses continue to be emotional.
Just becuase you are something by nature, i.e. a ranter or an emotional mess doesn't make it right. In addition, people here don't have to "know" you but definately one easy way to get known is emotional and unprofessional outburst like the ones you've had here. P.S. The reputation you are building is definately not one of someone anyone would want to use for any type of professional services.
Again, doesn't make it right. Just because you recognize your issues and make them public doesn't mean everyone has to live with them.
"Well, they are doing it, what about them" that is a very emotional and youthful response by itself and without a doubt not in anyway mature. First off you don't known that, secondly, that's their business, not yours.
Yup and without a doubt the fact that I know that it was written but someone who can not compose themselves here, makes it lose all credibility.
I seriously have my doubts there. Anyone that age or with 9 years of experience would have definitely have learned by now not to react in this way. It just tells me the complete opposite but if for whatever reason that is true, I can only imagine that at one point you will learn this is not the show to show yourself as a professional, it's emotional, it's unprofessional and definitely needs to be put in check.
Just you. Very typical of someone inexperienced to assume it's the rest of the world and not themselves.
