How to know when I have new Gmail?

    I use only Yahoo!Messenger( don't use Gtalk), and Y!M tell me immediately when I have new mail on Y!mail.
    I want to ask: is there any plugin( extension, addon..) for browser( I use chrome and IE8), which will tell me when I have new mail in gmail?

    yes Use Gtalk it tells you when new mail arrive

    I use gtalk and works perfectly. Try it immediately and you can the the mail notification.
