You can check back links of your website using this operator in Google link:xyz.com or if you have submitted your website into google webmaster tool then you'll get exact information of back links, google webmaster tool is providing all details of incoming links of each page of website, if it has any incoming link.

i hope this would be helpful to you.

Google doesn't update the toolbar daily you have to wait months to see if your work has paid off, sometimes the serps update a little more frequent, but usually not a major update to serps either for 3-4+ months. Just keep building quality and dofollow backlinks, then wait for the major update to see your progress. Good Luck!

I am using Google Webmaster, Yahoo site explorer and getting enough information about my backlinks.

I suggest you to use Backlinkwatch, which also a good one.

Please compare the data and promote your site accordingly..

Send an email to every website on the internet and ask them if they have a backlink to you.

Seriously, have you not heard of Google? a two second Google search would have provided you with more information to your question than you would ever need, quicker than it took you to write your post.

Nothing wrong with asking questions, but something as elementary as this shouldn't need to be asked.

There are a lot of tools on internet if your search for them who can report your backlinks, but in the first place all that sites who link to your website must be indexed by an search engine spider such as google or yahoo.
    For google type link:www.yoursite.com
    For yahoo - linkdomain:www.yoursite.com

Or create an account for Google Webmaster Tools, add your site and then choose the verification method (add the meta tag provided or upload the html file) and after go to - "Your site on the web" then "Links to your site" and you will get an more accurate detail about what websites links to you.
