Check out forums such as http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ and ask around. That's the best way. If they have such an option, you can get a trial hosting from the company and see how that turns out. As for DNS hosting, it depends on a lot of things. It's not necessary (and not recommended) to have DNS hosted with the same company as the rest of your servers. My DNS servers are hosted at different parts of the US, one with a pretty cheap hosting company, and doing pretty well. If you're asking this question, I'd recommend you choose a good registrar and stick to their DNS servers and keep your own hosting separate.
Normally I would check how long they are in business by checking from whois query. And then search in WHT if they good or not. You can also check in the company forums if they have.

I would suggest you look for reviews. Though sometimes no reviews does not mean a host is bad. I've never seen any reviews of cyberwurx.com, though I was hosted with them for 6 years on their smallest plan and they were great. Top notch support.
