How can I make robots search my site? I don't know if my site has been indexed or not. How do I find out?

open an account in webmaster tools, verify your site, get links to your site and check webmaster tools on regular basis. Sig links here got my new site indexed in 1 week.

SEO simple means "Search Engine Orgy" when links are found on this site.

You should create an account at google webmaster tools if you haven't done so already and you will have access to this information.

To find out if your site has been indexed by big G type site:www.yoursite.com if query would return no results your site is not indexed, when you get results you will see which subpages of your site are indexed in Google.

As for robots - create sitemap and submit it to Google Sitemaps. Also make sure that html code on your site's pages is error free so bot can crawl through these smoothly.

I already signed for Google Webmaster Tools. I was simply asking because I had submitted to GWT, and my site had been up only for a couple of days. Now I see my site has been crawled, indexed, and has some backlinks, but mainly because of my posts here on DP.

I'll create a SiteMap as well. Thank you!

The nice thing about webmaster tools is that even if a site:yourdomain.com search turns up nothing you can still find out if you've been visited by the spider there and how it sees your site/what errors they found etc.
