How to know how many links I will need?

    Hello DP members,

These days I'm working on one of my websites and I want to improve its ranking in the SERP.

Well, the on-page optimization is quite done and I already started building links (writing articles and forum\blog posting).

The question is: how can I know how many links I will need to go in page 1?

Using yahoo site explorer I found that the site ranked #1 for that kw has about 1000 inlinks. I don't think that to beat this site I will need 1001 links, because surely at least a small part of these 1000 links don't have as anchor text the "keyword" I'm targeting.

So is there a way to know how many links I will need?

    Thank you very much

ok..thank you for your reply. I change my questions a little.

For all of you who have a SEO company or provide a SEO service:

    1. do you provide to your clients an estimate of the time needed to bring their site in the first page?
    2. if yes, could you please explain me how do you do it?

    Thank you

I am just wondering whether you are an SEO or you want too hire an SEO Expert???But for both the reasons I guess no one will answer it as this kind of question can be consider as an optimistic one.

Try to read more about SEO tactics this will give you some kind of confidence to give guarantee about top rankings to your clients.

    Good Luck

    I'm not a SEO.. I won't make this questions, don't you think so? :)

I'm considering of hiring a SEO and in the same time I'm trying to learn it, but there are a few things that I really do NOT undestand! Among the things that I don't understand there is exactly this:

"googling" the web I found that "no-one can guarantee you to achieve the 1st page in google SERP and if he does, very probabily it's scamming you".

If I understand right, when I hire a SEO, he should guarantee me just more links, more visitors, but he can't quantify how many visitors\daily he can achieve.

Isn't this a little small for deciding to hire a SEO?

    Thank you again.

Things that you have read are absolutely correct, no one can guarantee you to achieve top rankings but you are left to read the other part that google also recommends ethical SEOs that can help you out to increase your online sales.

Before hiring any SEO company just take a look at their testimonials so that you can have fair idea about whether that company is an ethical one or spamming.

    Buddy,

There is a possibility that PR Links can do that wonder with only 100 links. So, it does not depend on Quantity of Links, it actually depends on Quality of links.

    thanks,

I agree... It's not the number of links to a page that makes it rank for a particular keyword phrase. It's the number of links to a page with that particular keyword phrase that you want to rank for (or a slight variation of the phrase) as the link text. It's even better if those links with the targeted keyword phrase as the link text come from a relevant page on an external site.

You don't know the number of links you need.

It's not just the number of links that helps you rank. There are other factors such as the quality of the link, anchor test, etc.

Tell me the keyword that you are trying to rank for and I can send you a screenshot from Market Samurai. I will be able to tell you the PR of his backlinks and give you a better overall idea of his SEO practices.

Well this really all depends on your keywords and competition.

Do a search on your keyword and find out how many other results you get for your keyword, this will help determine how hard you have to promote your site with backlinks and promotion.

Also, the following helps to determine how much work you need to do, AGE of Domain as well as your current SERP.

I hope this has helped some.

Ok, so I should focus on links quality instead of quantity. And isn't there a way to calculate how many "PR" links I need, right?

So the only thing to do is build backlinks and check the website ranking and I should do so untill it ranks where I want.

Well, I hoped that there was a tool or software that could provide me a rough estimate of the link needed, just to have an idea of how much time I need to work on it.

It's not an English Keywords. Could you also do it?

The keyword I chose has about 7,500,000 results. The only way I know to check its competition is to search with google this:
    intitle:"kw" & inanchor"kw" .

    When I searched so, google said: 8.580 results for intitle:"kw" & inanchor:"kw".

Would that be a difficult keywords?

Thank you all for your reply.

    I really appreciate.

How many links you need? ITs almost impossible to answer. This is because it depends on the competitors links and the authority of the sites that have linked to your competitor. Its a known fact that links from high authority sites beats the value of links from low authority sites. Also the authority of the sites decided the speed at which your links will be indexed. If you are building 30 links a day and if your competitor buils 31 links a day in addition to the 1000's of links that he has you cannot win You have to just build links and see how it goes.
