There's a nice hack that disables URL posting for members with less than 5 messages :D Plus email account activation . this keeps my new VB spam free

I used to make my forum open for all, but now I have to approve every user that signs up manually... It hurts but I've got to do it because whenever I log on there's always a post with a link pointing to a pron site even though I have the image verification and user activation thingy tuned on..

Well be sure that Image confirmation is enabled during registration.

For phpBB. edir register_body.tpl and remove the website field during registration and also use a mod.. which stops users from posting live links until they have a certain minimum number of posts. Disallow signature links for new members. Once a member is caught spamming then ban his account immediately. Initially i used to suffer this problem but now i am comfortable . No more spam ! Just some wise steps need to be taken to keep spam away.

    regards

If you are talking about the spammers that spam manually, write in the welcome text that you are reporting them to G, Y and MSN if they spam you, they dont want to be reported.
