Hey – I have played with many ideas in the past and am wondering what your take and any suggestions or tips you may have in promoting my new web forum. It is a webmaster marketplace forum, similar to the ones found on DP and other forums. I have promoted it and got nearly 70 people to register and make almost 900 posts in about a month but I was wondering if any of you had ideas on how to increase posts and membership. DP has a lot of great marketers and any suggestions would be helpful. The site is in my sig – second line – if any of you need to take a look to give suggestions. I have done contests and freebies. Thanks for Your Time and any feedback appreciated
I'm currently having trouble building posts, members, and traffic in my music forums currently. I feel like I've used all that I've got until the rest of the site is developed.
Koolkid, a pretty neat forum there but the field you have chosen is pretty damn competitive, with many established biggies in the market. Some of your promotions were pretty good too ( scripts, articles ) A forum posting contest may not really work IMO, because of the limited amount of forums and because of the fact that you can't just keep posting in the market place. So i'd suggest to broaden it a bit and may include a GC forum, where chaps can hang out and engage in discussions. People come to B/S/t when there are people who will buy/sell. Guys tend to be a bit wary when it comes to a new forum.Posts in sub forums will give people a slight indication, as to where the person can stand in respect of trust. I'd may be give a prize to the webmaster with most Itraders or something. Ensuring that those Itraders aren't fake is another headache, as it will be tough to audit the transactions. You could try posting under various names initially to make it look as if there is real demand/supply and once people do start coming in, you could gradually withdraw the other names out.
The only way to have a successful forum that continues to grow is to not stop pushing the envelope. Whatever your competitors have to offer, you must be able to announce a better way. -Another tip. Use staff to promote with you. Heck they have nothing to do anyway. -Target your visitor in the same area of interest. If your forum is about Javascript codes, it's probably not best to look for places that are about flowers. lol.
lol. Yeah, let the staff help you. You both gain from the forum, right? In a forum we had before, we had a marketing department.
