How to keep forum ads "fresh"?

We've all heard how forums are bad because regular visitors become blind to ads. Well how do you keep forum ads fresh?

    I've tried the following
-Changing colour schemes (background and link colours)
-Setting up random colour schemes (like the way it is on DP)
-Changing table background and borders for ads under the first post so that it's not the same as the default table
-Adding images beside ads (with border of course)

    Anything else I could try?

Great tips you have there. Just to add a point, you may want to try and monitor which location of the ads give you the most clicks by using the channel feature. As soon as you know which place attracts the visitors attention, then that is your gold mine :)

Why don't you offer a subscription which removes ads? This way your more dedicated members stay loyal and your CTR goes up.

You could also increase the amount o fads in rotation.
