Hello, i read something about seo, that said that for a better seo and for more viditing of the bots, it is better to have the site updated all time (or so). Ihave some questions, what happen with sites that its content is just one and it is some kind of impossible to maintain updated, and something else: is RSS a good tool to keep a site updated (and is rss search engine friendly?)? Thanks, Paul.
Hi meaning, You are right, search engine loves new / fresh content If your content nature is difficult to update, then add more content to the pages The key is this, search engine will not index your page as frequently if you do not have new content on their next visit. As a user point of view, we want the latest news / updated content, so a page with 'last updated on 2 Jan 2003 'content will not do the page any good in terms of SEO. Here are some tips to improve your situation: 1. Add a timestamp on your pages. From user point of view, this acts as a visual confirmation that the site is at least alive. Update your copyright footer / note. 2. Search for new articles to add (if its possible for your content) from all the free news portal. It will not hurt your SERP by having RSS. What rss can do for you is that you can inform your users that you have new content available through their news feeder.. if you do not always add new content, it will affect you negatively instead (some users may not be interested to visit a site with only one or two updates every few months). Hope it helps
Ok, thanks kcgame, RSS will not hurt my serps, but can help my sites to improve position in serps? I know that a site with a date of 2003 is like dead for users but what i wan is maintain updated a site for serps. The actual users are confortable with the actual site (is not the blog of my signature). Thanks again.
RSS just offer other sites the ability to syndicate your content. You can also list them some RSS feed directories. These overall may increase the visibility and link popularity of your site, but how effective the SERP results will be still depends on the quality of your content, keywords density competitions etc. If what you want is to top the SERP, then you will have to update the content often and perform other SEO techniques such as keywords re-placement, site redesign and links allocation / renaming. Just purely focusing on RSS will not help much..
I agree with seo_expert. Blogging is good idea to have an updated content for your site. Write articles.
If applicable, you can also include a forum on your site. This is a great way to add fresh content, and assuming you have some repeat visitors, a good way to have your visitors help to create content, as well. Sam
Either a forum or a blog will do the job. But, also remember to update your individual pages as well. For this purpose you may use RSS at the bottom of the page.
