Hi i've been reading the forums and other articles where it says to issue a press release to get more traffic/exposure. So do I just pretend to be someone writing about my own website and just submit it to PR sites? Is that how it works?
I think it will be wise if you as someone with copywriting background to do it. It will also help if you tell us what is your site is all about.
I run a small public relations firm, so press release writing is one of the primary things I do. If you look at the press release link in my sig you'll find a few articles of mine regarding how to write them, some important elements, etc. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me or ask here and I'll try to help.
Okay I guess I should let someone with experience do it then since I'm not a professional copywriter. Thanks for the advice. Btw, my website is a music community for musicians.
Once you havea press release written what is the best way to get it out there? Is there better day of the week to send out a press release?
Thanks topaffiliate. ken... one of my main target areas of my firm is music publicity, I run a music webzine on the side (indie, so I work directly with a lot of the musicians), and a few other indie music sites. So I'm well-versed in the niche. If you opt to hire someone I just thought I'd point that out. Also, if you need general tips on marketing to them, I'm always happy to answer questions when I can. I used PRWEB for my press release. So far, I'm pretty satisfied. Not an expert by any means, but I've heard that weekends/Monday/Thursday are the worst days to submit releases.
