How to interpret validator results

    I was told this page has alot of errors, and when I validate it here, I get the various results.
    However, it shows certain things that are "supposedly" missing in red text, like " or /
    But when I open the page in source view to double-check the things that need to be added, they are showing up in the source view. So.....
    How do I interpret this?

    Just type (or Cut&Paste) the URL for the page you want to validate into the text field on the form and press the "Validate this page" button.

    If you have a local file you want to validate, choose the "File Upload" link from the navigation menu. Select the button labeled "Browse..." (or something like that, depending on your browser) and choose the file you want to upload in the usual manner for your OS.

    Alternatively, you can also copy and paste the complete markup (including a DOCTYPE declaration) for a document in the "direct input" box.
