    Hello,

I'd like to know how to install win xp on multiple pcs in an organization at once via LAN so i do the installation steps on 1 PC and all the others follow my steps

i'm talking about +50 PC so it will take days to install windows on all of them separately

PS: I've multiple PC license included.

i only know how to install via network drive sharing, but it's not much different than installing on each PC separately.

not sure how you wnat it done though.

i used to do this, but then my way of doing is a bit different!
first of all install windows in a pc! then use ghost software to copy the installed disk in another harddisk! now you have 2 installed computer, so you can copy 4 now! after that 8 and so on! this way i have installed about 200+ computers in a few hours time!
but then this only works if all the computers are of the same specification, else the harddisk won't be detected in another computer!
mostly pcs of the same place has the same configuration! since they are bought at the same time,

Make a temp RIS server & DHCP , put the drivers in the RIS folder .(You need Windows Server 2003 or 2000)

Boot the +50 machines from LAN ( option in BIOS , boot from LAN(PXE) ) & to obtain IP addreses from the temp DHCP Server & RIS server. once the 50+ machines get an IP adress, everything is aotomated

    Thats all to it...

Yeah i'd hire him if he can come to kuwait to do it :p

hmmm, things are looking complicated, i was thinking about something like boot cd with networking enabled so i load the cd in all the computers and stats installing on 1 pc and the others follow the same steps but i find it hard to be done since all the computers will have the same name on the network

i think i'll have to install windows on all of them separately

    I have an idea.

    1) Install windows on one PC and create an image of the installation using Aronis true image. Copy the image to a CD.
    2) Create a bootable recovery disc using true image and recover installations on every PC using the image CD you created. I think it should work. But don't know about activation of windows.

Recovery usually takes only 3-5 minutes on each PC. So you should be up and running in a fews hours time.

I will not have problem activating windows since i have license to install the same copy on 100 pcs

your solution is ok but the computers don't have the same configuration since some parts of them were replaced because they work 24/7 and they all need a fresh copy of windows since they became so slow

    i'm not lucky :(

I don't think it will matter. I had two computers: celeron and sempron. So I did it this way and it works. But if you install motherboard drivers and try it this way, it freezes.

Dont install any device driver before making the image (if it installs any device automatically, remove the device from device manager) and the proceed, it should work ..

To make th eprocess even faster you can try this -

    1) install the XP on one PC.
    2) make the image of disk on another HDD partition or DVD (CD will slow it down)
    3) Put The Image HDD/DVD on network
    4) copy the image to every System.

    Hardly 2 hours work...
