How to install theme?

How to install theme in my wordpress blog? I have the theme downloaded already. I have never done it. Presently using default theme.
Hope somebody will tell steps to install.

WordPress has a built in theme selector through the list, you just click on install and it will install it for you.

If you downloaded it from a 3rd party website, unrar or unzip and upload the folder to your /wp-content/themes/ folder.

Followed by activating the theme accordingly.

 

Can you provide a little insight into your skill level? Do you know how to use FTP? Is your WP blog self-hosted and do you know the Username and Password for your hosting account. You will need it to FTP into your WP site and upload your new theme.

As the user above stated, you need to unzip the theme files. FTP into your site and upload it to the folder that user specified. The them will then appear in your Theme selector in WordPress. I'd be happy to provide a step by step if you know and have done these few preparatory steps.

 

just upload your themes to your site's folder called "Theme", and activate it in Wordpress dashboard...

 

You can upload it from wordpress dashboard under:

Appereance -Add New Themes - Upload - Activate.

7Zip is a free zip utility that you can download and use to unzip your file.

 

Double click on the .zip or .rar which ever it came in. Drag and drop the folder on your desktop.

Then proceed to following the directions I posted above.

 

I suggest you update wordpress to the latest version - then you wont be needing any ftp/unzipping to change the theme to some commonly available features/latest ones on wordpress.org site
