Follow these steps. 1.Goto wampserver.com 2. Find the download link(its at the top) download the setup(32 bit or 64 bit depending your OS). 3. Install wampserver. Keep everything default. 4.After installation if you have firefox installed it will ask whether you want wampserver to open in firefox, choose yes. 5.Go to www.joomla.org/download.html and click the zip in front of 2.5.1 full Package(or if it has changed) 6. Now start wampserver from startmenu or desktop shortcut. 7.In your notification area you will have the wampserver icon. Click it and you will have a menu. 8. Find phpMyAdmin in it and click it. 9.Firefox will open up. create a new database and remember the name. 10. Unzip the joomla file download from above to a new folder. 11. click on the wampserver Icon in notification area again and there will be a link to www. click it and windows explorer will open. 12. There will be just one file in there called index.php 13. Now copy paste the new folder to the www folder. 14. No once more click the wampserver icon and click localhost. 15. firefox will open a page for you. On the page you will find a link to your projects. the name of your project will be new folder(if you have followed my instructions exactly). Click on it and joomla installation will begin. 16. Fill in the details. databse details:- database name:- the name you gave to your database in step 9. database host:- localhost databse user:- root datbase password:- leave it blank. you can customize the steps to suit your needs.
Do you want to install a Joomla website on local host or use Joomla for your website? When you try to install, which error is reported?
you need to install joomla on a server you dont install on your laptop, you need a web hosting account then simply upload the joomla file and unzip , go to your domain, and you will see some simple instructions on the joomla interface, if your hosting with godaddy just go to the app manager and click install joomla and that does it all for you.
to install joomla , just create empty database in mysql then keep the joomla folder in the localhost www named folder, then open the localhost url path where that folder is placed. then start from its first page step , you need to click on next button only. and inbetween where it asks for the host name there u can fill "localhost" and user, password of your root, root , which are your localhost mysql user and password. then at last it willl be installed.
