I want to install Google Friend Connect but how? 1.) So I download the 2 files to my desktop 2.) Now I use Filezilla to transfer/upload them to my website... but to what file? Do I create a new file for each downloaded file? 3.) Once those 2 are uploaded then do I go try the "test" button on the official Google Friend Connect page? For me number 2 is where it gets confusing. LINK - http://www.google.com/friendconnect/
After some research it appears that you upload the 2 files to your "root directory" aka public html in my case. Then do the "test" button on the official Google Friend Connect page (step 3) and you will be taken to a customization page (if you passed by uploading properly)... which I have.
Go to http://www.google.com/friendconnect setup a New SiteClick the 'Set up a new site' button prominently displayed on the main page or you can go to the following URL: http://www.google.com/friendconnect/admin/site/setup Enter the site name (This name will be displayed to visitors when they sign in or adjust Friend Connect settings) along with the full URL. You'll be instructed to install "rpc_relay" and "canvas" HTML pages into your server. This may seem tricky, but it's not as bad as it seems. Be sure to 'download' both files to your desktop. Open the file titled, "rpc_relay" in notepad and copy its contents entirely and paste in a new post. (New post in blogger = dashboard>> create>>). Note: Don't forget to name the title of the post as "rpc_relay" WITHOUT double quotes. Repeat Step 5 for the file titled, "canvas" WITHOUT double quotes. Publish both posts and proceed with the next step in "Google Friend Connect" installation process. Customize your Google Friend Connect members gadget and copy the generated HTML code provided. Paste the code as a new gadget in the blog layout. hope it will help u.
Thanks, Jalpari. I had already done it... even customized it Check it out at NeighborAide.com and join in. I wonder if I should keep it or go with Facebook. I am also anticipating Google Wave as a good communication device. Online is always changing.
