bought* I think you can use fantastico to do it automatically, or put the forum files in public_html in your ftp and install.

see if you can find the installation instruction in the forum script. read it and if you don't understand any part, feel free to ask me or you can post the question in here.

Once you learn how to install these kind of things yourself, it will make your webmaster life much easier because often time the way you install the script is same for most of the scripts you will ever use.

sanath, what server-side programming language and relational database management system (such as PHP/MySQL or ASP.NET/MSSQL for example) does your server have? If it's PHP and MySQL, then what forum are you trying to install? Is it phpBB (avoid it like the plague), SMF (probably the best free PHP based forum available), or vBulletin (if you're going to spend money on a forum, get this since the others just aren't worth it)?

Each forum has its own installation instructions, but they usually revolve around creating an empty database and then following the instructions on an "installation script" to fill that database and "create" the forum for you.

If you give me FTP access I will install MyBB forum software for you for free.

I hate SMF ad phpBB, so I won't install them for you.

blueparukia, why do you hate SMF so much (the train wreck known as phpBB I can understand, but SMF???) ?

whatever forum package you decide to use, (SMF is the best freebie), be very careful to whom you give your cpanel details too.

if you have fantastico, you can install your own forum in about 2 minutes. :D

you need cPanel to create a database.
how will you install a forum without one?

What type of forum do you have in mind??? There are so many forum scripts out there.
Best thing would be for you to pick one forum script and install it yourself. Most forum scripts, if not all, come with an installation guide and it's pretty easy to follow.
