I found that one of my site has only one index page! but I have minimum 200 pages! so whats wrong? how will I index more pages in live search??
many issues arise in why a search BOTS indexes more pages than not. To begin with have clean code and a site map
msn / live has been a pain in my backside over this for quite awhile. Over 20,000 pages of content on one site, and only 128 indexed pages by MSN. My other site has 33,000 pages, and only 192 pages have been indexed by MSN. Google and Yahoo! both have nearly all my pages indexed. Just MSN being the lame one. Yes, I have site maps, and yes, it is referenced in the robots.txt, as well as being submitted and pinged. so - to OP - MSN / Live is just lame. Be patient. As time goes by, you'll get more pages in there.
I believe html sitemaps are necessary for full indexing in MSN. They don't really give priority to xml sitemaps if its a big website. MSN is lazy. it won't index untill it really sees some link juice to the designated page.
I agree with Sparaker. When Google happens to spider a page and considers its content of some value, it will mix it into the Serps. Live will wait for some considerable link juice before doing anything at all. So the advice would be: convince webmasters with your site to get a few links.
No, it should be the same. All major search engines have agreed to a common protocol: Sitemaps XML format: http://sitemaps.org/protocol.php
I actually feel MSN index's pages better than anyone else. I have 1,780 pages there and only 380 pages at Google right now.
