install a exit plugin which is sending the receiving traffic to one of your sites so if the user goes exit he only exit from this site but will enter in your other site. If you are a content rich website (e.g. news portal, blog, and similar), here's what you can do:

Facebook:
Let's take an easy example.
You are trying to promote a website with some funny videos.

Quick way:
1. Start a group page on the Facebook
2. Search for other groups with the content similar to yours.
3. Send them a message that you want to promote your page on their wall
4. Pay them couple bucks per link they share.
In ideal, they have to share link to your album - sharing regular links in the form of thumbnails is not very effective due to the small size of thumbnails.
5. Make sure you track your links (through bit.ly for example) so you know exactly how many clicks, when, and content gives you.
(Maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I always like to use third-party tracking)
6. Having the information on what people like more, when they are online, and where are they from, you can now adjust your group to their interests.

Long way:
1. Start a group on the Facebook
2. Search for other groups with the content similar to yours.
3. Like them.
4. Kindly ask them to cross-promote.
5. Find community pages
6. Spend some time finding who owns posting privileges there (sometimes it's not that easy)
7. Kindly ask them to post your uber-funny picture on their wall.
