if you are using wordpress or anything like it, be wise in putting your keywords or tags. make sure that they are commonly searched by people. make your content useful and helpful. this would make your viewers to come back. join communities also where you can participate and share some content from your websites and then refer them to your site. do this creatively and subtly though. good luck!

You should have "dog" in your domain such as dog.com or abc.com/dog.php
