Do those of you who use facebook and twitter differentiate your content, or do you just repost the same content on both?
Work on the following: write an article then submit it to article sites and directories do social bookmarking and networking comments on DoFollow blogs participate on link wheel and hub pages
Submit first your blog/website on search engines so that it will be indexed. And create as many content as you can to increase its traffic. The more content you have, the more likely search engines will crawl your website.
I think you are focusing on the wrong keywords. If I was in the need of buying a tie online I would enter into Google: "Buy necktie online" "Where can I find nice ties" "cheap ties" "Ties online" or something like that. You need to think from your customers perspective. And then focus on those keywords and partner sites. Example: When I enter "buy necktie" into Google, the second page result is http://www.tie-a-tie.net/neckties.html. However this site is not a shop, it is a mini portal with tips for people looking for ties online. Now you should contact the owner of this site and ask for linkexchange or even paid advertisement on his site (maybe you can offer a commission on your sales, so you only pay when somebody buys from you). Also a lot of people dont know how to tie a tie. You can either enter a section on how to tie a tie to your homepage, which will get a lot of visitors, or look for pages who offer this already and ask again for link exchange. Or do some youtube videos on how to tie ties. Think of when do your customers need a tie? Often as present or for weddings or funerals and of course for BUSINESS purposes. So check for high ranked or popular sites within those categories and again ask for link exchange. If you follow this way of thinking, PPC will work for you, so so you should try different advertising networks to find a suitable one. Of course you should do regular SEO as well to build a steady base of visitors. (Also think of how to make one time customers returning customers. User their power to get new customers. You could offer a free tie to anybody who brings a new customer that spends US$ with their first order.) There is so much you can think of. You can get more visitors easily. And one more: A tie as present is often the last ressort and people need them quickly. So form your customers perspective it might be outstanding to offer a offer a guaranteed next day shipping and delivery into most parts of the world. Maybe this will spread the word of mouth and get you new customers. I hope this helps.
