How to increase traffic on my new site

SEO takes a long time, Have you thought about going with paid traffic then placing profits into longterm seo?

you should do some offpage activities, but if you do forum posting with your site signature it is the best way to get traffic on your site.

 

I think you should do some offpage and paid activities like ppc, cpc and use adsense also to get traffic on your site.

 

You can do SMO, Free classified ads, yahoo answer question, forum posting, PPC( If you have extra money) article submission. Blog posting and commenting, use stumble upon( A good resource of getting more traffic) etc.

There will be lots and lots of suggestions, but among the top would have to be paying to advertise your site in Google Adwords or some thing similar to gain targeted traffic and potentially traffic which will convert.
