Can someone please elaborate on the Social Media aspect? I've recently started using Digg and StumbleUpon. My company also already has a ton of followers on Twitter/Facebook. I'm trying to find other avenues to promote our blog and website. What is the best way to use Digg/StumbleUpon/Reddit etc? Do you have to have alot of followers on those sites to be effective? Any suggestions there?

Even you bring good traffics from SE, the visitors will not stay long because you do not have content. Improve blog content, make sure every category has more than 4 related pages all talks as a completion of another so that they will stay long. Google will see your page or post important which means more authority.

 

Try guest posting or writing to a popular blogger

 

I'm assuming you already had great content.. but still the way to have traffic is to be no. 1 at a competitive keyword. Blog commenting and forum posting helps but for a period of days..

 

social bookmarking, forum posting or any off page activity is a secondary thing first of all your blog must be attractive enough to force the visitor come again and give good comments on your blog posts.

How this thing is possible ? only from the quality, fresh & useful content. This is the soul of your blog.

If your blog doesn't give good information visitor doesn't come again.... so post only good content

 

do regular blog submission without making it spam.
try using different keywords to work with blog

 

Write & submit article to some of top directory everyday. Definitely you will get quality backlink.

Make an RSS feed, and ping your site ruthlessly. You can find here a ping list for blogs.

Of course, if your content is just so-so, don't bother... content is still king.

 

Update fresh content oftenly and ping them and do social bookmarking..nothing much actually we need to do get much traffic..we can expect as much as traffic from twitter and facebook..
