how to increase the crawl rate of my website

As my opinion, You don't increase crawl rate, If you want to crawl your website, You should try to submit your website in various web2.0 websites like directory submission, social bookmarking, forum posting with the signature.. you will definitely crawl your website soon...

 

Posting a link to twitter usually gets a page indexed within minutes.

I agree with you.If you want to crawl your site then do another thing also like some changing in page content which you targeted for seo. Because whenever google found new and different content on any site then google crawls that site first.
