Guest blogging is a really good idea that I find works well for small blogs. Basically guest blog on a same niche blog which links back to your site. Higher the blogs PR the better of course. There are sites that bring people together for this. A quick google search will prove wonders

 

There are also blog network that can you can buy a subscription to that will increase your pagerank.

 

I've been using submityourarticle.com and have had good results.

 

I recommend you to use the following methods:

1. social bookmarking
2. guest blogging
3. blog commenting (you should convince mods/admins of the blogs that your comment has a valued feedback)
4. and forum posting (but never spam, follow the guidelines set by the forum admins)

 

I suggest blog commenting on do follow sites. That would be really helpful.

 

That can not be very fast to increase your PR.
The most important thing is that make more high quality backlinks.

Is it still considered duplicate content if you wrote the article and then posted it to blogger as well as your website? I was told that having two blogs (on and offsite) would be effective because then you have two websites competing for keywords.

Yes - where ever you post it second (generally) will be classed as the duplicate post, sure... having several blogs with different, unique content - linking to each other can be effective. But in my experience - links in your own site are just as valuable these days - YES links in your own site, linking to it's own posts are just as valuable... so on site SEO and linking is just as valuable as external links.

 

Don't do anything FAST, take your time and go for quality over quantity.

 

Get some backlinks for high pr sites, i think this is the fast way.
