    You need a mixture of dofollow and nofollow backlinks. Google only follows dofollow but with both, your website is visible to all different types of audience. Traffic is what you want. And the best ways to drive are thru blog commenting and forum postings, these two techniques kill two birds with one stone.

    The best way to increase your page rank is to create high page rank backlink pointing to your site. I would personally look for page rank 6+ websites to build backlinks from.

    Interesting to see answers from different times. The fastest way is to get high PR sites (5+) to give you a link. As long as there aren't a ton of other links on the same page that you would have to share the link juice with than you should see some movement on the next update (if you are PR0-3).
