Create useful, original content for your site and the links/PageRank will come naturally.

Try to get some back links from related sites. That will also help you to increase page rank.

Get your links on highly page ranked sites aswell, do this by posting comments on blogs and so on. This is what i did to get PR5 for my site before it launched. I also tried to get links on .gov and .edu websites.

Not really, but in some situations it does help.

For example, lets say you were trying to do a deal with a potential advertiser, and they were just about to pay you $1000 to advertise on your site, when they say, sorry i'm pulling out of the deal, as you are only PR4 and this other site i am interested in is PR5. Now this potential advertiser might not know the ins and outs of what Page Rank is all about, and how it works and how important it is, all he/she sees is that you have a pagerank lower than the other website. This might be a far fetched example, but i have had similar things happen to me in the past.

If u just want to increase the PR , backlinks from relevant sites is the only soloution.Just look at people who can exchange links at first instance . If you can afford buy few links from pages having good PR , it helps.
