Of course, you should advertise. You can start with free classified, forum, blogs and free ppc like htophunt.com.
Add useful content, offer something good to your visitor, spread the word about it and maintain your patience.
Have a long term plan. What are your keywords: what do you want to be found in Google search for? Whats the purpose of getting more visitors? You don't necessarily need a huge number of visitors what you need are targetted visitors who want to buy your products. Forum marketing, commenting on do-follow blogs, article marketing have all worked for me
Your query should be more precisely "How can I increase the no. of Quality Visitor on a web site or on a Blog?" You should try directory submissions to drive quality traffic to a website. Most directories would not list blogs. For blogs you can try Social Bookmarking, also try finding what top bloggers do. A lot of people have been talking about social media marketing for their sites these days. For a general blog it might be worthwhile, but you really have to consider the actual target market you are trying to attract. If you're looking at generating any money via ebusiness sure, social media marketing might be a good start, but are those who you're targeting really going to increase your ecpm via ads or your quality visitors? Most likely not, unless you're getting specifically targeted traffic and are running a good scheme with a good landing page to bolster your revenues.
