    Besides using sitemap, you will also have to do some work on your site on page optimization and update the content regularly. Adding a date below the content will works as the trump card. There will also a mechanism called pinging, would helps a lot to increase your ranking tremendously.

    You can increase index by having your site on webpages that are crawled frequently, hence it's a good idea to submit your site to the social bookmarking sites of the likes of Digg and Reddit as they are crawled pretty frequently

    Add content on regular basis but slowly not all at a once. Improve your link structure so that all of your pages can be crawled from popular landing pages. Hope this will work for you.
