Creating a sitemap and submitting it to Google through webmaster tools is the first step. You obviously be needing to verify your site as well.

As they say "Content Is The King"

Without regular & frequent update of your site, the crawling/indexing won't be as frequent as those sites which are content based.:)

The Question here is how much change in content will flag in the search engine that the page is changed

I don't think that for example if the crawler find one line changed it will consider the page to be changed

The search engines will only be able to see and index what Guests can see. If you do not allow guests to view something, then the search engines will not be able to index it.

I've been using Yahoo! Answers to speed up the process, and it seems to have worked well. I haven't had a chance to use any of the other suggested social networking sites, my employer's website has a limited audience, but I plan on doing that soon.

My concern now is getting the search engines to recognize the correct keywords, which I'm sure the social networking sites would help with.

I highly recommend that you start using sitemaps. It will help you dramatically when it comes to rankings on Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine. Your site will be a lot more visible. and along with it, make sure you update your content regularly like the others stated, then yo should be good....
