Ebay is total garbage these days, but they are stuff like featured ads, and so on to increase views, i dont know if it will help increase sales as I personally have not used it myself.
you can twitter about the items or otherwise socially network them. If they are items you own and are selling, make a squidoo lens about them, or a squidoo page about your ebay listings, then tweet it.
You can advertise your eBay listing with many ways. Use adwords for an example. Others, you can pay someone to write a blogspot about it, use sigs in forums, and the list will goes on and on..

the best way of marketing your products on ebay outside of ebay is facebook and twitter , its really simple and it works on getting people interested also remember to use keywords on what you think people will be looking for
a cool and basic great tip is to use the advanced search option, then click on the "completed listing" check box, this way you will see all the listings that has ended with a sale and see the sale amount, so if you run a search of your product or product line, you can see how it sells or search for hot trends that sell ;-)
I use this too and find it works well. You can also click on the top few sellers in your particular niche, if they are selling multiple items you will see something like XXX available, XXX sold. Click on the XXX sold and it will give you dates of when sold which will tell you how fast the items are moving.
