How to increase database name character limit?

    I am little confusing to increase mysql database name character limit and unable to use more than 16 character in my server. Is there any security issue while increase this character limit and how to increase it?

    What do you exactly mean by "name character limit" ? I am not aware of any 16 characters limit in mysql server...
