Google not shows all back links, you can try yahoo search or any other back link checker tool.

Increasing the backlinks is the key of success. This in turn increases the rate of repeated visitors. But how should one increase backlinks and traffic naturally? To every webmaster, traffic is a must and should to survive in business. So, the webmasters spend each and every minute in increasing backlinks.

This article deals with the standard ways to increase backlinks so as to be in tune with the policies of search engine algorithms.

Firstly, articles are considered to be the premier source for backlinks of a website. Write unique articles, don’t just copy and paste the article from PLR sources. Select a niche and write informative articles keeping visitors in mind. Make the content unique. Target a keyword which has good demand but less supply. Concentrate on keyword phrases rather than 1 or 2 keywords as they are easy to target and effective.

Secondly, prepare a list of articles that has good PR and reader base. Get a unique title with keyword phrase in it. Don’t spam the article with your keywords. Be natural and add value to your niche. Be sure to add an author bio pointing a backlink to your website. Don’t pose yourself as the master in the niche. Try to be natural.

Thirdly, register in each article directory and keep a separate record of username and password. Then submit your article as per the category and write a brief description about your article. That’s it. Upon approval of your articles, you get the backlinks that too dofollow backlinks from the authority sites. Everything is good except that the whole process is just time taking one.

Agree with you, that's true, but we need to compose a perfect and unique article in order to be able to submit it into article directory like ezine, which is really hard to try

yea don't use google for researching linkback use yahoo, msn or altavista. compare results.

one way to increase backlinks is to post comments on relevant blogs.

There are many ways to increase back links to a site.
    1) The most easiest way is to sign up to a forum and then by making relevant comments to a post, with a signature that has your link in it.
    2) Another more time consuming way is by posting articles - this is a way to also get quality links, for example posting articles on high google ranking sites such as goarticles and ezinearticles.
    3) The last way is to submit your site to all social bookmarking sites and search engine directories so they can start looking for your site.

    I hope these helped!

I don't know, that seems a bit odd. I read on Google that applying a sitemap should increase your chances of higher rankings with them. Have you made sure you didn't delete any important files the Google's Bots use to search your site.?.

And BTW.. some ideas are cool to get backlinks ... but i think ...
this methods really works? ... yes ...
but to get success ,, you need too good content or services .. the objective is not just get tons of links .. if u have trash in your site ... you will go nowhere :D

I mostly use digg, slashdot, twitter and forums for my backlinks. If you put a link in your signature on forums that helps quite a bit. You have to make sure you are posting quite a bit to the forums with helpful info though. Most forums require betwen 5 and 15 posts to allow links.

You can see the number of backlinks on siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com as explined by some folks but in google as well you can see the exact number of backlinks by logging into webmaster. Log in to Google Webmaster tool and add your website over there. It show show you number of inlinks and outgoing links as well.
