The best way to increase CTR is to use the large rectangle and match the color of the adsense links with the color of your theme's titles or links. Also, the description should be the same color as the normal text in your theme

Get targeted visitors for your website either through links, advertisement, or bought traffic
Meanwhile, while you are doing that make sure you have a good theme and good content.

Be very careful now - the game has changed - to many ad's at the top of your page and kiss your traffic good bye!! Google will now penalize you for having to many ad's above the fold - so all of these CTR themes may need to be looked at and valuated...

Do you have any proof to justify what you said?
If google start penalizing sites having there own ads, then Google will be losing a lot of money and customers. I have been using CTR Themes for over a year now and my traffic never went down, in fact, it has grown 3 times that and my earnings 6-7 times!! IF you are good with SEO (white hat SEO that it) then you'll never lose traffic... :)

Yes and I have felt the effects of it... here's my post from another thread... it's relatively new...

Make sure you read the new guidelines for Google, ad' placement now affects your ranking - don't place to many ad's above the fold - about 75% of content above the fold must be actual content and NOT ads, content must be unique, link spamming is NOT effective anymore - links must be quality or they wont count. On site SEO is extremely important, site speed is a key factor... there's so many things to follow now:

    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...provement.html - the layout updates.

http://as-abovethefold.appspot.com/ - check to see if ad's are above the fold.

https://support.google.com/adsense/b...ent=29872&rd=1 - ad placement suggestions (by Google)

    http://static.googleusercontent.com/...rter-guide.pdf - Google's own SEO guide.

https://developers.google.com/pagespeed/ - test your page speed in Google with Google tools - follow the suggestions.

http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.au/ - follow changes and updates in Google blog....

We can't provide you guys with everything here... you have to stay up to date to - it's YOUR job and relying on heresy at this forum and other members who are unreliable is not sufficient, all you will get here that's related to SEO advice is mainly "build Links", "spam blogs", "write articles" and all that other dribble - here's Google view on such things:

    Website Guidelines:

    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...h-quality.html

    Duplicate Content:

Syndicate carefully: If you syndicate your content on other sites, Google will always show the version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search, which may or may not be the version you'd prefer. However, it is helpful to ensure that each site on which your content is syndicated includes a link back to your original article. You can also ask those who use your syndicated material to use the noindex meta tag to prevent search engines from indexing their version of the content.
So - if you go spamming around your own articles - it's a misconception that the first published article is the priority - which ever site carries the most weight in Google's eyes gets accredited with the content....

Gaining Links backs to your site:

    http://support.google.com/webmasters...n&answer=66356

It is not only the number of links you have pointing to your site that matters, but also the quality and relevance of those links. Creating good content pays off: Links are usually editorial votes given by choice, and the buzzing blogger community can be an excellent place to generate interest.
There ya go there's a lot of information for you guys to digest...

Thanks for sharing such useful insight.

Its pretty clear that using way too many ads or no content above fold would result in loss of traffic. This has nothing to do with CTR themes. Its webmasters headache to add content as well and not just ads...Professional premium CTR Themes such as adsense pro ultimate and some others, don't have all ads above fold, but equally distributed on the page; so its not wise to blame the theme itself. :)

No worries, yeah it is up to webmasters to provide the content, but - I bet most webmasters don't even bother to keep up with these new changes, I think it's a pain in the ass and it's getting harder and harder to monetize... maybe webmasters will start to use more pop-ups and pop-unders...

Check Out Youtube though - a Google ran site, they have a massive ad' on their header and one on their right navigation - two big No-No's apparently, their video page isn't as bad - but - what do you see on the majority videos? Ad's before they play... in their main content... above the fold... one rule for us and one rule for them... I guess you could say the same with their search results... all ad's on the right hand side - ad's in the header...

You must first increase traffic. The main way to do this is by backlinking to your website from other websites. Google "Backlinking" for more information.
    Backlinking has 2 benefits.
    - The websites that contain the backlinks will allow people to click on your link, and it will bring traffic to your website.
    - The more backlinks you have, the higher your google page rank will be, so the higher up google search you will be located, therefore increasing the chance of people clicking on your website on google search.

It might just be the ad unit you are using. The 336x285 seems to do well for me, But depending on how well the ads match the content, can also determine your ctr. If you visit your site and you see ads, that don't seem relevant to your content, you can block their url within your adsense account, so they do not show, and hopefully more relevant ads will show up.
