Move the sidebar ad up to the top of the sidebar, get rid of the in post horizontal ad, then in the posts place one 300x250 top right with text wrapped to the left and one 300x250 bottom left with text wrapped to the right of it. Make them all "text/image'

I think the suggested change is a good starting point for layout. Also make sure you have followed the adsense advice, particularly, section targeting and making the channels targetable. It may improve ad targeting and increase competition for the ad space.

I would definitely go with removing the big banner. For me it has almost never really worked, especially at the top like that, but a little better at the bottom. If you can, you could also move the sidebar to the right to improve, and using some css place it after the main content section in the sourcecode. Have you tried harmonising the colors to match your links, ie red? Also having 2 ads at the bottom is probably lowering your CTR, so maybe try with one and see if your overall earnings don't improve. Just my 2 cents...hope it helps.
